My Budding Entrepreneur

A child's marker drawing of an animal with the name "Fu"

My budding entrepreneur is focused on ways to make money. Today he decided he would draw two pictures for my friend if she would pay $6 for them. She played along and told him that he should draw some pictures and show them to her, and then she would see what she thinks they are worth.

He worked really hard on them. I was a bit alarmed when I saw this one, until he told me it is a cat named "Fu" (pronounced Foo). I asked what he would do if she didn't want to pay $6 for them or she didn’t have $6. He said, “Well, (she) has a job, right? So she should definitely have $6. But if she doesn’t want to pay that much for them, I’ll just wait until I find someone who does!”

He presented his creations via FaceTime, asked if they were worth $6, and celebrated wildly when she said yes. When she asked him how he likes to be paid, he said he likes cash.

And yes, the money is in the mail. I'm SO grateful to have friends that are good sports!

He waited, not so patiently, for USPS to deliver said payment. He asked me for a cash advance more times than I can count. But I've learned the hard way (via pre-payment for chores) that he takes the money and forgets our agreement. It was a long four days of waiting for the mail. As soon as he got the sweet card and check, he had me download something on the iPad. I won't actually be cashing the check because of the sentimental value: it's his first official commission check! Hopefully this will fuel more entrepreneurial efforts. Stay tuned...he wants to launch his own website where he sells nature-related things.
